Baseball Recap: Madison Highland Prep Has No Trouble Against Arete Prep

Madison Highland Prep got themselves on the board against Arete Prep on Friday, but Arete Prep never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the CHARGERS. The match marked the Heat's most dominant win of the season so far.

Aidan Zuber and Rhett Clemens were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Zuber tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Clemens struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Zuber is becoming a predictor of Madison Highland Prep's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). At bat, Zuber scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Clemens went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Zuber has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Raul Sotelo Baltazar and Dylan Bethge did most of the damage at the plate: Sotelo Baltazar scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2, while Bethge went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Sotelo Baltazar is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. TJ Provincio also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Madison Highland Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Madison Highland Prep and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Arete Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison Highland Prep will welcome Scottsdale Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Arete Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lincoln Prep at 7:00 p.m. The CHARGERS' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
