The Vernon Vikings had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-16 victory over Sussex County Tech. That's another feather in the cap for Vernon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Logan Pych continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 211 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Pych is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Sussex County Tech's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andrew Baker, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Baker's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards.
Vernon's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.3 points per game. As for Sussex County Tech, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
Vernon will be playing at home against Passaic Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sussex County Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
