Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Show Low's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Show Low barely beat Payson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 17-3 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Easton Hatch was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hatch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Nick Hall was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Bigos, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Show Low kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Payson only managed six hits.

Show Low has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Payson, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Show Low will host Alchesay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Payson, they will welcome ALA - Ironwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.71 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of.
