The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 59-47 to Providence Day. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Charlotte Country Day School in their matchups with Providence Day: they've now lost six in a row.
Charlotte Country Day School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Margaret Blythe, who scored nine points along with two steals. Casey Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Jaida Mcclure continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Providence Day, scoring 35 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcclure has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Clark, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Charlotte Country Day School dropped their record down to 14-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Providence Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte Country Day School's road trip will continue as they head out to face Charlotte Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Charlotte Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Providence Day, they will head out on the road to challenge Charlotte Latin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Latin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Providence Day is ranked 28th).
