Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Victory Christian Center

Victory Christian Center extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Justyn Whitfield. The Victory Christian Center Kings pulled ahead with a 57-56 photo finish over the Queen's Grant Stallions on Monday thanks in part to Whitfield, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 23 points. His evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Petty, who posted ten points and four steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

Several Stallions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ian Howard, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 18 points. Chase Smith was another key player, putting up six points along with nine boards and three steals.

Victory Christian Center has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Queen's Grant, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5.

Victory Christian Center will challenge Elevation Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Elevation Prep Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Queen's Grant, they will face off against Burlington Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Queen's Grant knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Burlington Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
