Softball Recap: Riverdale Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Caruthers, Riverdale was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Yosemite Badgers 26-9. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Camila Cortes was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mamie Cox, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yosemite only posted an OBP of .500.

The win snapped Riverdale's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-8 record. As for Yosemite, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverdale will square off against Chowchilla at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tribe have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Yosemite, they will venture away from home to face off against Parlier at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.17 runs per game on average), something the Badgers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
