The Gaithersburg Trojans will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Richard Montgomery Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Gaithersburg is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Gaithersburg stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-21 victory over Rockville at home. Given Gaithersburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Rockville is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Richard Montgomery pushed their score all the way to 50 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between Richard Montgomery and Churchill wasn't particularly close, with Richard Montgomery falling 64-50. Richard Montgomery has struggled against Churchill recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Anthony Dixon jr put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 412 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Dixon jr hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalil Wilson, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Gaithersburg's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points per game. As for Richard Montgomery, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
