St. Ignatius has gone 6-1 against Archbishop Hoban recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Knights at 5:00 p.m. The last three games St. Ignatius has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
While St. Ignatius' victory against St. Edward wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Eagles on Wednesday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Sam LoParo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, St. Ignatius let Jackson Boyer and Jackson Anthony run wild. Boyer went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Anthony got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brett Krugman, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
St. Ignatius was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Hoban had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Benedictine on Tuesday.
St. Ignatius pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Hoban, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Everything went St. Ignatius' way against Archbishop Hoban when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as St. Ignatius made off with a 7-1 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
