1A Conference 10 recap September 17, 2013
Manteo's John Lilley rumbled for the longest rushing play in 1A Conference 10 this season in his game against Cape Hatteras last week. Lilley's team beat the Hurricanes as he sprinted for 65 yards on the play and finished with 98 in all.
Manteo was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to third in the league. Eddie Twyne's team beat Cape Hatteras 42-0 earlier in the week.
Josh Furgeson was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Redskins defeated the Hurricanes. The 6-foot-0 junior.
JR Wilford was the best wideout in the league this week as Manteo bested Cape Hatteras.
Lilley was a passing and rushing force as the Redskins topped the Hurricanes.
Rafael Lirian was the most successful running back in 1A Conference 10 this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 93 yards as Plymouth beat Cape Hatteras. Teammate Chad Dance added to the ground attack by rushing for 86 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Camden County's Michael Hill goes up against the Vikings' Adrian Moore.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Bruins and Plymouth face off next week. Noah Tuttle has thrown for 108 yards and 1 touchdowns this season, while Demetrius Davis has terrorized opposing QBs to the tune of 2.0 sacks.
Next week's game between Camden County and Robert Cody's team will feature a good passing match up as Tuttle will test his arm against Moore's defensive ability.
The Redskins are in third place, while Perquimans is in second place.
Mattamuskeet fell to Northside 73-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
