Baseball Recap: Malcolm Extends Winning Streak to Five

Malcolm entered their tilt with Fort Calhoun on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 24-0 shutout. The Clippers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pioneers, too.

Brixon Meyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Preston Kucera was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Nolan Duzik also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Malcolm always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Malcolm's record is now 5-2. As for Fort Calhoun, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Malcolm is set to square off against their familiar foe Ralston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Fort Calhoun will take on rival Tekamah-Herman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
