Highland is a perfect 9-0 against Century since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rams will head out to square off against the Diamondbacks at 4:00 p.m. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Highland is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Madison just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 11-4.
Highland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reece Bybee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Emerson Gifford, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Century). Everything went their way against South Fremont on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-9 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Diamondbacks.
Ally Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyndsee Ferguson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kylie Kyle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Century hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
The victory got Century back to even at 8-8. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Highland took their win against Century in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
