The Summit Academy Bears suffered their biggest loss since November 20, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 85-53 loss at the hands of Payson. Summit Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Summit Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Stewart Woodward. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Woodward has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Beau Edmunds was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Kamika Wesley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Payson, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Swasey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Summit Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Payson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Summit Academy will head out on the road to take on Rowland Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Rowland Hall has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21. As for Payson, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Layton Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
