The South Caldwell Spartans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They lost to Hibriten at home by a decisive 28-14 margin. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but South Caldwell couldn't answer the 14 points Hibriten scored afterwards.
When it comes to explaining why South Caldwell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zack Freeman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Freeman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards.
South Caldwell's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.7 points per game. As for Hibriten, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
South Caldwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hibriten will be playing at home against Tuscola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
