The Melbourne Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 55-35 walloping at the hands of Satellite. Melbourne has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Melbourne lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gabrielly Bortolucci, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Quinteria Coger was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Satellite found their leader in underclassman Alyna Lora, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Lora is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janae Mcfall, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Melbourne has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Satellite, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melbourne will square off against West Shore at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Shore is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Satellite's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bayside at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Bayside's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Satellite's offense will have their work cut out for them.
