Baseball Game Preview: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Arcadia Firebirds

Chincoteague is 1-9 against Arcadia since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ponies will face off against the Firebirds at 4:00 p.m. Chincoteague is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Chincoteague barely beat Salisbury Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ponies never let Salisbury Christian get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Monday. The Ponies not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 18-1).

Brice Luck and Landon Easton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Luck pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Easton didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Luck has become a key player for Chincoteague: the team is 3-1-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 4-5 otherwise. At bat, Luck got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Easton went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Kent Reed was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Andrew Davis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Arcadia fell victim to Norview and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pilots by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Firebirds were not able to get on the board.

Chincoteague now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Chincoteague might still be hurting after the 12-4 loss they got from Arcadia when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Ponies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
