Northgate is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Apollo Ridge is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Flames will host the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northgate made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shady Side Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Flames blew past the Bulldogs 17-7 on Friday. While the Flames didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Johna Abramowicz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Gracie Auth was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kayleigh Hooper was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shady Side Academy only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Apollo Ridge never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Shady Side Academy with a sharp 19-0 win.
Like Northgate, Apollo Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Jocelyn Snyder. Throwing, Snyder tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Mikaila Ditty pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Snyder scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Ditty scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Ditty snagged this season.
In other batting news, Apollo Ridge let Olivia Saxion and Kourtney Levesque run wild. Saxion scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Levesque scored three runs while going 1-for-4. Levesque also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Josalin McCauley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Northgate's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Apollo Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Northgate's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Flames have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Apollo Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Northgate continue to outrun the ball?
