The Arroyo Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Claremont.
Leading Claremont to victory were Aaron Gapo and Jaden Wang. Gapo scored 13 points along with five rebounds, while Wang went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 0 assists. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Douglass Johnson III was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds.
Arroyo's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Claremont, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arroyo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marshall at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Marshall is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Claremont's road trip will continue as they head out to face Glendora at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
