The Patriot Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Connelly School of the Holy Child 59-30. While losing is never fun, Patriot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 156th in Virginia, while Connelly School of the Holy Child is ranked 18th in Maryland).
Patriot's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maysa Bilal, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Sweeney, who scored seven points.
Patriot's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Connelly School of the Holy Child, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Patriot and Woodgrove will face off at 4:15 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Woodgrove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Patriot likes a good challenge. Connelly School of the Holy Child and Flint Hill will face off at 5:45 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
