The Pocahontas County Warriors lost against the Petersburg Vikings back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Pocahontas County was beaten by Petersburg 77-49. Pocahontas County has struggled against Petersburg recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Pocahontas County still got an impressive performance from Carter Vandevander, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Vandevander scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Hendrick, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Pocahontas County dropped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Petersburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Pocahontas County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bath County at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Pocahontas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Petersburg, they will head out on the road to take on Moorefield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
