On Friday, Covington had a bit more than a touchdown to spare in a 28-16 victory over Eastern Montgomery. The success made it back-to-back wins for Covington.
Covington started the match off right with 21 first-half points. Meanwhile, Eastern Montgomery couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21-0 heading into the break. Covington were outperformed in the second half 7-16 but had enough points saved up to walk away with the win.
The win bumped Covington's record up to 5-3. Eastern Montgomery's defeat makes it three in a row and drags their record down to 2-6.
The teams are both focusing on improving their conference standings in their upcoming contests. Covington will square off against Craig County at 7:00 PM next week. Craig County are limping into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Eastern Montgomery will be staying on the road next week, facing off against McCluer. Eastern Montgomery's defense better steel itself: McCluer are averaging 31.25 points per game.
