The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Fighting Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meg Jennings was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Heritage Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Park Tudor on Monday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 19-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ariweyn Thompson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Sela Barrow was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Heritage Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Heritage Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
Heritage Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Heritage Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Indianapolis Bishop Chatard keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Indianapolis Bishop Chatard skirted past Heritage Christian 9-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
