Utica Academy of Science has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Corcoran Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Utica Academy of Science has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Utica Academy of Science has not done well against Bishop Grimes recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Utica Academy of Science walked away with a 66-54 win over Bishop Grimes. The win was all the more spectacular given Utica Academy of Science's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while Bishop Grimes is ranked 156th).
Utica Academy of Science's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Doneilious King j.r led the charge by scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. King j.r hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Akol Machteng was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Corcoran pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 88-60 loss at the hands of Cicero-North Syracuse. Corcoran has not had much luck with Cicero-North Syracuse recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Utica Academy of Science's victory bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Corcoran, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8.
