The Winamac Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Caston Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winamac is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Winamac barely beat Twin Lakes the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Indians on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.
Brooke Rausch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Brody Goodman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Trinity Harlan was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Caston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Marion by a score of 10-5 on Monday.
Natalie Warner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Warner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Lexie Field and Kylee Logan did most of the damage at the plate: Field went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Logan went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Alex Mersch also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Winamac's record is now 14-2. As for Caston, their record now sits at 9-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Winamac hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. However, it's not like Caston struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Winamac's way against Caston when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Winamac made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
