The Natchitoches Central Chiefs will face off against the Grant Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Natchitoches Central will be strutting in after a win while Grant will be coming in after a loss.
If Natchitoches Central beats Grant with 13 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Natchitoches Central beat Byrd on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Sydney Terrell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Terrell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Natchitoches Central let Maggie Massia and Morgan Robinson run wild. Massia scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Robinson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Massia has posted over her last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Breanna Hale, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Grant's offense. They lost 10-0 to West Ouachita on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Peyton Kirtland spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Even though they lost, Grant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in six consecutive games.
Natchitoches Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Grant's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Natchitoches Central came up short against Grant in their previous matchup on Friday, falling 8-4. Can Natchitoches Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
