The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 45-31 victory over Blountstown. This was payback for Port St. Joe, who suffered a 47-39 loss the last time these two teams met.
Port St. Joe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zay Jenkins, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Elijah Harris was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Loss or not, Blountstown got some senior leadership from Amarion Hover who scored seven points along with six rebounds and Aidan Richards who scored 11 points.
Blountstown struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Port St. Joe's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Blountstown, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-6.
Port St. Joe won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sneads at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Sneads presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Port St. Joe in Florida (Sneads is ranked 206th, while Port St. Joe is ranked 488th). As for Blountstown, Blountstown and Bozeman will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
