Sequoyah hasn't had much luck against Stilwell recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Sequoyah will look to defend their home field against Stilwell at 1:00 p.m. Sequoyah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Sequoyah made easy work of Keys and carried off a 16-1 win. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Karson Briscoe made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Briscoe was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Koal Gritts looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Crayton Sapp was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Sequoyah's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kurt Trammel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Sequoyah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive games.
Verdigris hit Stilwell with a seven-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Cardinals, falling 11-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost six in a row.
Stilwell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Wilhite, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Stilwell now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Sequoyah, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sequoyah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .527. However, it's not like Stilwell struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
