Eustis-Farnam took the matchup and then some with a 70-32 victory over Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on Thursday. Followers of Eustis-Farnam probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected five blowout victories.
The game started off well for Eustis-Farnam, whose offense put up 44 first-half points. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 20 to make it 44-20 heading into the break. Eustis-Farnam put the contest away in the third quarter with 13 points from the offense and six points allowed from the defense.
Senior Christian Timm, who rushed for 379 yards and 6 touchdowns, was a major factor in Eustis-Farnam's success. If you haven't heard Timm's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past eight games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior J.D. Bartell, who racked up 17 tackles.
The win bumped Eustis-Farnam's record up to 6-2. The loss dropped Sumner-Eddyville-Miller back to even at 4-4. Both of these squads appear to be finished for the season, as they have no upcoming games scheduled.
