Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newport - Bellevue). They were the clear victors by a 28-5 margin over the Bellevue Wolverines on Monday. Considering the Knights have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Wittman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Wittman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Allie Barashkoff was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and four runs. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Blank, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Newport - Bellevue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory got Newport - Bellevue back to even at 6-6-1. As for Bellevue, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
