The Notre Dame Catholic Lancers were the 46-45 winner over the New Fairfield Rebels when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Notre Dame Catholic fell 39-32 to New Fairfield on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Notre Dame Catholic has lost by exactly seven points.
Notre Dame Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madison Gibbs, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Gibbs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Chanka, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Notre Dame Catholic bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for New Fairfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Catholic will square off against Newtown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Fairfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Stratford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stratford is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
