The Tri-Cities Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Lithia Springs Lions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Tri-Cities walked away with a 59-46 win over Lithia Springs on Saturday. Given Tri-Cities' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Lithia Springs is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-Cities got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emari Benton out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benton has scored all season. Alyssia Bandele was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Loss or not, Lithia Springs got some senior leadership from Amaya Richmond and Aires Davis. Richmond scored 17 points along with two steals, while Davis. scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Richmond hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of MyAngel Ross, who scored two points along with four steals.
Tri-Cities has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Lithia Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Cities will take on Creekside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Creekside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Lithia Springs, Lithia Springs and Midtown will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Midtown is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.8 points per game.
