The Serra Padres put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over Salinas. The result was nothing new for Serra, who have now won nine matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Nano Latu was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 33 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Jaden Green also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Serra's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Folsom and 8-3 Palma (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.2% over those games). As for Salinas, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Serra will take on Wilcox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilcox will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Serra is ranked fifth). Salinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
