Baseball Recap: Perquimans Wins Going Away Against Bertie

Perquimans won the last time they faced Bertie and things went their way on Tuesday too. Perquimans was the clear victor by a 19-3 margin over Bertie. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

Perquimans got a massive performance out of Ben Brown, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, Brown posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Askew, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Perquimans was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bertie only posted a batting average of .190.

The victory made it two in a row for Perquimans and bumps their season record up to 9-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Bertie, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Perquimans will take on Tarboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Perquimans' pitchers better be ready for this one: Tarboro has averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Bertie, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-13 victory against Hobgood Charter on the 26th.
