Austin Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Perry Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kameron Moody, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Perry Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Hattiesburg posted their closest victory since April 9, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past West Marion 3-2.
JB Bryant tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Polk, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Hattiesburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season.
