Baseball Game Preview: Jasper Bulldogs vs. West Orange-Stark Mustangs

For the second straight game, Jasper will face off against West Orange-Stark. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jasper has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 6.

Things were looking good for Jasper after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of West Orange-Stark by a score of 5-4.

Gage Foster was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jasper saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Brooks has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-16 otherwise.

West Orange-Stark's win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-18-1. As for Jasper, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.
