Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Narragansett Regional). They blew past the North Polar Bears 18-3 on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Max Kauffman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Trey Richard and Travis Cohn dominated on the mound. Richard went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Cohn pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those three RBI gave Richard a new career-high.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Casavant, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Dupuis, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Narragansett Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory was the third in a row for Narragansett Regional, bringing their record up to 7-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for North, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.
Narragansett Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North, they will take on Montachusett RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Polar Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
