The Redmond Mustangs will face off against the Inglemoor Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Redmond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Redmond and Bothell meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Cougars 15-1. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ainsley Barcalow was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Barcalow was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Livy Ruess was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Ellie Sattler was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
Redmond always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bothell only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Inglemoor faced North Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vikings fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.
Malin Homes (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Inglemoor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiera Pritchard (2026), who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Redmond's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Inglemoor, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Redmond has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Inglemoor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
