Rehoboth Christian is 1-9 against Estancia since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lynx will venture away from home to square off against the Bears at 9:00 a.m. Rehoboth Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Rehoboth Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Eunice.
Deiyanera Franklin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Dominique Delariva and Shanoah Eddie did most of the damage at the plate: Delariva went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI, while Eddie went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Delariva has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Sage West, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Rehoboth Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eunice only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, Estancia entered their tilt with Raton on Wednesday with 21 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 22. They beat the Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-6.
Jhenna Valencia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Estancia let Peyton Looper and Ana Cuevas run wild. Looper went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Cuevas went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Looper has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Villafuerte, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Rehoboth Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Estancia, their record now sits at 26-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Rehoboth Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Estancia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Rehoboth Christian suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Estancia when the teams last played last Saturday. Can the Lynx avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
