The Broomfield Eagles were the 45-20 winner over the Poudre Impalas when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Broomfield was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 36-35 to Poudre. Broomfield found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 7 on offense.
Broomfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydney Deem, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Deem hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Kayleigh Jones was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Poudre was led to victory by Kavi Voglund and Maggie Foster. Voglund scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, while Foster dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Voglund has scored at least a third of Poudre's points.
Broomfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season. As for Poudre, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broomfield will face off against Legacy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Legacy is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Poudre, they will head out on the road to challenge Erie at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Erie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
