The De La Salle Meteors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-56 victory over IC Catholic Prep. The win was all the more spectacular given De La Salle's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while IC Catholic Prep is ranked 69th).
Kamryn Porter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 37 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Schergen, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
De La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for IC Catholic Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De La Salle will take on St. Francis at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Francis will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for IC Catholic Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Aurora Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. Aurora Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully IC Catholic Prep likes a good challenge.
