The Currituck County Knights came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 58-46 victory over Manor. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Currituck County did.
Currituck County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamie Dance, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Dance posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Malcolm Cowell, who scored 15 points.
Manor's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylin Ballard, who scored 16 points. Sherwood Cross was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Currituck County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Manor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Currituck County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses. As for Manor, they will head out on the road to square off against Norcom at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
