Nokomis and Waterville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Warriors will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Nokomis will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Friday, Nokomis sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Maine Central Institute.
Owen Russell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Russell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Buck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Seth Bowden, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Waterville was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 10-2 to Erskine Academy.
Waterville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Felix Chapa, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Chapa is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Waterville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Nokomis, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Everything went Nokomis' way against Waterville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Nokomis made off with a 13-3 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
