After having lost a blowout to Rock Port in their previous game, DeKalb was happy to find some success on Friday. Everything went DeKalb's way against Chilhowee/Leeton as they made off with a 34-6 win. Chilhowee/Leeton can consider this payback for the 6-52 loss they dealt DeKalb the last time the teams encountered one another.
Junior Wyatt Ashpaugh, who accumulated 101 passing yards and picked up 32 yards on the ground, was a major factor in the success. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Joe Lofland, who racked up 10 tackles.
The win got DeKalb back to even at 1-1. The defeat dropped Chilhowee/Leeton's record to 0-2.
DeKalb will look to defend their home turf next week against Southwest/Hale/Tina-Avalon at 7:00 PM. DeKalb continues their travels as they hit the road for the second straight contest. Chilhowee/Leeton will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Osceola at 7:00 PM.
