The Atlantic Eagles pushed their score all the way to 74 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 75-74 to Santaluces. Atlantic has not had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Atlantic still got an impressive performance from Jabari Henry, who scored 28 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Henry has scored all season. Kevin Ulysee was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Decarious Jenkins was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Santaluces. Another player making a difference was Jeff Accelus, who scored seven points along with three blocks and two steals.
Atlantic's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Santaluces, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic will take on the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trinity Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Santaluces, they and the Panthers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dwyer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Chiefs in Florida (the Panthers are ranked 28th, while the Chiefs are ranked 454th).
