The Virginia City Muckers lost against the Smith Valley Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between Virginia City and the Bulldogs wasn't particularly close, with the Muckers falling 48-34. Virginia City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Virginia City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiya Krum, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nanna Lopez, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Smith Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Teagan York out in front who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Madison Slater, who scored 12 points.
Virginia City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Smith Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Virginia City will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Truckee is ranked 78th in California, while the Muckers are ranked 87th in Nevada). As for Smith Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Coleville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Saturday.
