Basketball Game Preview: Chattanooga Christian Chargers vs. Webb Spartans

Chattanooga Christian hasn't had much luck against Webb recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chattanooga Christian Chargers will head out to challenge the Webb Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Chattanooga Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Chattanooga Christian came up short against Cleveland and fell 61-54.

Despite their defeat, Chattanooga Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dixie Walker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards, was perhaps the best of all. Walker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Davick, who went 9 of 16 on her way to 24 points.

Even though they lost, Chattanooga Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Webb was able to grind out a solid win over Grace Christian Academy on Thursday, taking the game 52-41. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Rams are ranked 58th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Webb's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Chattanooga Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.

Chattanooga Christian and Webb were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but Chattanooga Christian came up empty-handed after a 58-57 defeat. Can Chattanooga Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
