After nine games on the road, Flatirons Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Flatirons Academy strolled past Evangel Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 57-42.
Emma Cox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Flatirons Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Rakers, who scored nine points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Lutheran entered their tilt with Loveland Classical with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Rocky Mountain Lutheran came out on top against Loveland Classical by a score of 35-26 on Thursday.
It was another big night for Ginny Shade, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rocky Mountain Lutheran's points. Sophia Thiel was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Flatirons Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Flatirons Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Flatirons Academy against Rocky Mountain Lutheran in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 78-8 victory. With Flatirons Academy ahead 46-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.
