Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Wellsville Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holton on Friday. Wellsville's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Defeat or not, Wellsville got some senior leadership from William Dorsey who threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns and Dezmond Winton who picked up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Winton was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 62 yards.
It was another big night for Abbott Hundley, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown. Hundley hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Cael Frazier also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Wellsville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Holton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Wellsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Holton will square off against Frontenac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Frontenac is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
