Softball Recap: Uintah Sets Scoring Season-High Against Provo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Uintah). They never let the Provo Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 27-0 victory on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Utes with their most commanding win of the season.

Abbie Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Uintah got a massive performance out of Kayla Olson, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those five runs gave Olson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenadee Mcallister, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Uintah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Uintah is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Provo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Uintah will square off against Grantsville at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Utes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Provo, they will venture away from home to square off against Payson at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
