After a string of seven wins, The Ravenwood Raptors''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-18 walloping at the hands of Oakland. While losing is never fun, Ravenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Oakland is ranked fifth).
Despite the defeat, Ravenwood saw an underclassman step up: Davis Dowland rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
Oakland was led to victory by Daune Morris and Ashton Jones. Morris rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, while Jones rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Craig Tutt got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ravenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Oakland, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Ravenwood will square off against Brentwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentwood will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Oakland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverdale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
