The Everett Alvarez Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Pacific Grove Breakers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Everett Alvarez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Everett Alvarez needed a bit of extra time to put away Alisal. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 6-2.
Dani Amendola made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Michelle Wallace was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Alexia Meza, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Everett Alvarez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pacific Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Aptos on Tuesday and fell 3-2. The Breakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alex Giammanco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Isis Turner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jasmine Booker was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Everett Alvarez's record now sits at 5-3. As for Pacific Grove, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Everett Alvarez's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. Everett Alvarez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pacific Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Everett Alvarez continue to outrun the ball?
Everett Alvarez was able to grind out a solid win over Pacific Grove in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 4-0. Does Everett Alvarez have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pacific Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
